GREEN PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES FOR A GREEN FUTURE

When it comes to environmental stewardship and reducing our environmental impact, we have ambitious goals. Argos pledges to use and protect our environment responsibly and ensures our operations are aligned with this commitment. We have an environmental management system that allows us to prevent, mitigate, correct and compensate our impacts, with special emphasis on five pillars:

SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION

Through initiatives such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) and agreements such as Paris COP 21, the world has established the importance of mobilizing society, businesses and governments toward sustainable development.

Through the strategy of sustainable construction, we are dedicated to responding to a changing world through innovation and contributing to sustainable construction certification systems, like LEED, with our green product portfolio expertise.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

We play an important role in the transition to a circular economy by using various byproducts and waste that, due to their characteristics, allow us to replace part of the fossil fuels or conventional raw materials used in our production processes. In this way, we minimize the impacts associated with the disposal of waste, as well as those related to the exploitation, production and transportation of natural resources.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is a global phenomenon with impacts that bring challenges and opportunities for growth. Because of this, we are undertaking robust and innovative actions with our stakeholders to promote sustainability and adaptation to the impacts that climate change brings us.

EMISSIONS

By monitoring and controlling emissions derived from our combustion and kiln processes, we are able to comply with local regulations in the countries where we operate, while contributing to our process efficiency through effective operational control. We are committed to reducing our emissions beyond regulatory compliance to reduce impacts derived from our operations.

WATER AND BIODIVERSITY

We define water management and biodiversity as the equitable, sustainable and economically viable use of natural resources. Being aware of this, we direct our efforts toward the identification and adequate management of risks and significant impacts in the places where we are present. In this way, we ensure their availability and generate a positive net impact through mitigation hierarchy.

ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATIONS

We have achieved many certifications across our operations, including:

  • Wildlife Habitat Council’s Wildlife at Work
  • ENERGY STAR®
