Event encourages students to consider careers in construction
The Tampa Ready Mix and Cement Team joined together to participate in Lee County Building Industry Association’s “Build My Future” event, which partners with local high schools and adult-education students to showcase roughly 50 companies working in construction.
This event allows the more than 500 students in attendance, who may not feel that a four-year degree at a major university is the best route to lead them to career success, to learn more about training in a skilled trade. Not only are the educational expenses for trades usually lower than for college, apprentices in the trades enter their chosen fields sooner, potentially jump-starting their retirement savings. The pay for skilled tradespeople would make many college grads green with envy, and with demand for tradespeople soaring nationally, the potential for achieving success is nearly endless.
Both our ready mix and cement teams were on-hand to give product demonstrations and chat with students about the career potential within the cement and ready mix industry.
