Martinsburg Cement Plant Donates Backpacks to Local Schools

Employees help underprivileged students

The Martinsburg Cement Plant recently donated over 70 backpacks full of school supplies to local elementary schools for underprivileged students. Plant employees divvied up the backpacks to take 12 to each of the schools in Berkeley County, and they were able to drop the supplies and backpacks directly at schools.

Berkeley County, where the city of Martinsburg is located, is the second largest county in West Virginia, and according to the 2010 census, about 7.0% of families and 10.1% of the population in this county were below the poverty line, and of those, 13.2% are under age 18.
