Argos Ready Mix Employees Help Rebuild Houston as the City Still Struggles After Harvey

13 volunteers work to rebuild home

The Argos Houston Ready Mix team participated in a volunteering event where they helped rebuild the home of a grandmother and her grandchild, who she is raising. Eight months after Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston, this family still has not been able to return back to their home.

Thirteen volunteers, mostly from our Houston operations, helped with demolition of the home, which was the first step for this family to have a home again. Argos teamed up with an organization called SBP that focuses on rebuilding after disasters for low-income families with little kids, the elderly, veterans, and the uninsured.

There is still a large portion of the city that is still displaced and struggling to rebuild. In fact, in Harris County (where Houston is located), 650 homeowners remain in the transitional sheltering program, and there are still 6,764 total applicants left in the program that were displaced because of Harvey.
